WHAT DO I WEAR?
What Do I Wear?
Our style focuses on YOU, so the clothing is secondary! That being said, wear clothes that reflect your personal style. When choosing your clothing, be aware that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in your outfits. Choose outfits that are flattering to your figure. Most Seniors select some casual clothing for a more laid back look, as well as some dressy outfits for a more formal look. We will choose your backgrounds to best compliment your attire. We offer unlimited clothing changes in all of our sessions, but keep in mind that the more changes you have, the less time you spend in front of the camera.
Fashion Bulletin
Be your own fashion editor! Choose different styles, colors & textures of clothing. Remember that your pictures can represent all seasons. Bring a range of clothing despite the actual weather. Do you want a variety of looks & background choices? Then, bring an assortment of Spring, Summer, Winter & Fall pieces!
Walk on the Wild Side
Bring something unique. We suggest that you put together an outfit that represents your wilder side! Be cool. Be colorful. Be a little crazy. Be fashionable. Be fab. Be fun! For photo shoot homework, we recommend browsing fashion magazines or Pinterest & window shopping at the your favorite stores.
Camera Colors
The camera loves solid colors & jewel tones. Black is black & it looks great on everyone, but brown, navy & dark gray can give you the same effect. That being said, don't be afraid to express your personality with color & patterns. Think "creative." Think "variety." Think "outside the box!" We want you to bring several color choices so we can coordinate them with different backgrounds.
Essential Accessories
Don't forget to accessorize! Hats, scarves, jewelry, sunglasses, boots, jackets & belts all make stylish additions to your outfits. Accessories help to enhance your portraits & reveal your character. They also give your hands something to do so you don't feel awkward.
Optical Illusion
If you normally wear glasses, they should be part of your portrait. We control the reflections to the best of our ability by adjusting your pose, but sometimes it's impossible to completely eliminate glare. If you have thick lenses that have had severe reflection problems in the past, or if you have Transitions lenses, you may want to ask your optometrist to loan you frames with no lenses for your photo shoot.
Footloose!
Spend some time on finding the perfect shoes for every outfit. We know many of your favorite shots will be concentrated on your smiling face, but other shots will focus on your full body & shoes will show. Girls should choose boots, high heels or shoes with visual interest. Bare feet are often a good choice for casual portraits too.
Hey Cover Girl!
We advise you wear your makeup in your normal style. Simply apply it slightly heavier than normal. Note: Avoid makeup with an SPF in it. Although it is good for your skin in the sun, the SPF tends to create a shine, an almost metallic glean that destroys the appearance of your skin texture. Control shininess in the sun by using translucent powder. We highly recommend that you have your make-up professionally done for your photo shoot.
Salon Extras
The way you wear your hair is part of your self-image. We know you want to look like yourself in your portraits, so we discourage radical changes in your hairstyle. Likewise, haircuts should be made at least a full week before your appointment. If you completely color your hair, retouching your roots is a must. For highlights & tints, make an appointment at your salon a week or two in advance of your session. Quick, easy hairstyle changes during your shoot are super, but practice doing such quick-changes, so you don't lose time in front of the camera.
Got Bronze?
We warn you not to over-do the tanning bed, spray tanning or sun. Your skin will have a natural luster & color if you let it rest from tanning for three days before your shoot.
Breakout Blues
All of your finished portraits will be retouched, so don't worry if your complexion breaks out right before your shoot.
Weather Report
Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Do not worry if it rains on your scheduled outdoor shoot. We will reschedule your shoot for a better day. Due to the ever changing weather here in Ohio, we will make a decision to reschedule about 2 hours before your shoot.
Backstage Bliss!
On the day before your shoot, organize your outfits on hangers & make sure they aren't wrinkled. (Don't forget to pack the proper undergarments!) Be sure to try on your outfits. Be critical of the way they fit. Are you pleased with each "look?" If you don't like a certain "look" in the mirror, then you won't like that "look" in a photo either. Pack your makeup, jewelry, props & hair products.
On the night before your shoot, we suggest you to get plenty of sleep! We guarantee that a little preparation & rest will make your shoot stress-free & fun!
